This is the incredible account of Jill Bolte Taylor as she experiences a stroke. I was blown away by her experience and how she maintained a certain presence in the moment as she went through the stages.
As a coach and trainer it is my job to create a space for people to open their minds to the possibility of Who They Can Be. Maryanne Williamson quoted
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Where do we begin our journey? Must we go through an experience, such as Jill Bolte Taylor’s to realise that we are bigger than we think? For some of us perhaps that is the case.
I think it comes down to awareness and choice. Without awareness we are unconscious to our own internal power and also what is available to us from the universe. Through Jill’s inspirational sharing I can see that to play small in life I am not only cheating myself but also everyone else. If I have awareness and an understanding of that awareness I have the choice then to choose for myself which path will best serve me and others.
So How Big Are You? What game are you playing and can you up the stakes, step out of the comfort zone and expand yourself to reach others?
When working with horses it is possible to experience this level of connectedness to the expanse of the universe. When one is so tuned into the horse all else disappears and the mind falls silent, it is just the exchange of energy between horse and human.
